The Water Filtration System

The colon hydrotherapy instrument being used is the Aquanet EC-2000 (2015), a closed system. It is FDA cleared therefore its safety has been proven. It has been approved for export to other countries as well. Not all devices use filters for their water but this is important for safety and effective detoxing – the Aquanet has three filters:

• A particle filter – removes any micro debris
• A carbon filter – removes any chemicals from the water including chlorine which can be harmful
• A UV Ultra light – kills any bacteria or viruses that may be in the tap water

The Instrument

To prepare for each client visit, the unit is sanitized externally and internally using a hospital-grade disinfectant. Not all colonic instruments allow internal disinfectant but we feel this is vital to maintain optimal cleanliness.

The Difference Between Closed and Open Systems

In the past we have given colonics on both closed and open systems. In our experience, a closed system is safer, more effective, preferred by hospitals, and allows for a more sanitary facility.

Safety – Closed systems don't require the patient to bear down which is a very active maneuver and can put strain on the colon. Closed systems require a professionally-trained operator to conduct the colonic. While having an operator present can be slightly embarassing for the client, it removes the possibility of injury due to a patient incorrectly using an open system to give themselves a colonic. 

Effective – Closed systems can provide a more effective colonic because they can reach higher into the colon for more thorough cleansing.

Hospital-approved – Doctors who recommend colonics for their patients may advise against an open system for patients with certain illnesses or conditions, but will recommend a closed system colonic. In many parts of the world where hospitals offer colonics, they almost always use a closed system.

Cleanliness – Closed systems keep waste contained so that it is never exposed to the air to become airborne and inhaled. Closed systems can also be internally cleaned to allow for internal and external sanitization.

While it is possible to receive an effective colonic from an open system, for these reasons we have chosen to provide colonics on a closed system.
